Bright, glass-clinging ruby purple. Abundant nose of cassis cobbler. Echoed on the medium full-bodied palate with some dark flavored highlights. Medium plus acidity and firm tannins from entry to finish. “Muirwood” seems to translate as “more wood” here, and it’s cheap enough for burgers but structured enough for steak. If that’s your style, this is a winner!

Lots of fruit and a touch of darker elements, but the combination of richness and acidity is what really won me over.

Medium bodied with fruit forward flavors of black currant, berry jam, and a surprisingly long acidic finish with hints of graphite, and salted cocoa nib. While good on its own the med-high tannins made it shine when paired with a grilled NY strip steak and maple-orange roasted carrots. ($12) [3/19/16]

Color of gray purple, just a bit hazy. Nose of nice cherry, plenty of tobacco leaves, and beautiful mix of these two fragrance. Taste is similar with nice acidity, cherry, some dried fruits, supple and lush, some raisins, a touch of vanilla and oak, anise and thyme, and really just silky and tasty. Aftertaste of some citrusy peel, almost no tannins, residual acidity. Very good.

Nice dry, mild red wine. How I discovered my love for 2013 California Cabernet's.

Oak nose. Spicy up front, long finish. Great table wine.
