Clare Valley Riesling

Impressive stuff. Last tasted about 5 years ago when I was nonplussed and rather hoped that time would help this wine. Well it has indeed. A beautiful balance between fresh acidity and fruit and that classic, but not too heavy, aged Clare Riesling unctuousness. One bottle remains.

Wine of the night. 1999 Mt Horrocks Cordon Cut Riesling

Floral, nectarine-y, limey, minerally Mt Horrocks #Riesling, a dazzling greeting to #Sydney w/ savory, piquant swordfish at Cafe Sydney

Lean, austere with that Clare valley architecture, found it a bit too soft on the finish, wanted a bit more unctuosity and parting salute

Pretty good at 11 years of age. Nicely balanced but ultimately a little boring. Might be better in a few years but I'm not so sure.

Very typical of watervale, very fine finish.

Delicious and delectable sticky; full of flavour
