Moss Wood
Moss Wood Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
So much cassis, black currant and rich sweetness. Very atypical for a Margaret River Cabernet - this is more Barossa or McLaren Vale. Less herbaceous than is usual for Margaret River in this warm vintage. A rich medium to full bodied palate with excellent concentration and smooth persistent tannins. My 2nd of 6 and a vintage that will last well beyond 2025 as one well known expert predicted. Should have the next bottle in 2 to 3 years time. 91% Cabernet Sauvignon; 4% Petit Verdot; 4% Cabernet Franc; 1% Merlot.

Mar 10th, 2024Very complete wine for Moss Wood, and one of Margaret River's superior styles of cabernet; therefore one of the best in Australia; the "old guard" style which is commendable as more Margaret River makers take the "soft and juicy" road of wines eminently drinkable after a year; this has power and backbone; not elegant fruit; more an array of flavours-licorice, black fruit, cassis, tobacco, smidgin of herbs, all very good, oak is below, chunky fruit above; now this wine is permitted some comparison with the Medoc as it has weight; worth AUD 100; of interest alc has dropped to 13.5% from the usual 14.5%; a boost for longer term balance.
