The fact sheet says that this wine is 100% Carmenere. In my opinion, Chile’s finest expression of the varietal. Intense ripe berry aromas give way to a well harmonized pallet of those same ripe berries accented by notes of coffee, dark cocoa and baking spices. Smoldering toasty oak accents the long and silky finish. No sign of those intense green notes that Carmenere is most famous for. The experts have noted that 2016 was a difficult vintage in Chile’. You would never know it by this wine. Purple Angel is consistently outstanding vintage after vintage.

Ok! My first post for 2020 and the first in a while at that. Tasting this one for some friends and I can say it’s waves of delight straight to the head. Blackcurrant and plum on the nose, followed by smoke and leather. Taste of tobacco, blackcurrant, and a lingering blackberry. Firm but smooth mouthfeel, perfectly balanced astringency. Mellows out in the glass!

First taste: home.

Elly and I are tasting this for some friends, and WOW this is great. The nose is leathered and smoky, with hints of stewed fruit coming through. On the palate up front, you’ll find black currant, tobacco, and a lingering blackberry note. The astringency is also great - the tannin grips you for a good bit after your sip but not in any negative way. Try this one out!

Purple. Leather and oak on nose. Bold, dry, nicely balanced. Plums and blackberries forward, vanilla and a smoky finish. Lovely wine!

Big bold and as the name suggests, almost purple in the glass. Still young but very enjoyable with rich fruit flavours and some delicate fragrance provided by the small amount of petit Verdot. Tannins are present but not too drying or intrusive, will be nice to see how this wine develops.
