Heat on the nose with bell pepper aromas, eucalyptus, fresh cut aloe, overripe blackberry, cassis, burnt persimmon, and mostly the box of cigar box. Tastes of rosemary, peppercorn, graphite, medium, clingy tannins, dried black cherry, prune, baked black currant, bing cherry and dark tobacco. A lot more wine than it costs, but the bell pepper is disconcerting. I go back and forth with this one. Nose and entry are clunky, but finishes much stronger.

Blind tasting. Surprisingly good. Game and meats on the nose. Fresh peppers also. Jammy on the fore pallet and then smooth and velvety on the finish. It wouldn’t be my first choice but that’s why blind tasting evolve my pallet.

Deliciously dry and earth-forward cab sauv. Blackberry and a pleasant tobacco and toffee note on the finish.
