Bravo to Weston for hosting today! Great blind tasting. This champagne kicked things off perfectly with the typical green apple crisp, kiwi, and sweet tart finish. As you can see, we were treated to some great wines today!

I head out to Napa on Friday...this got my mind ready for the awesome few days ahead!

Magnificent bubbly, even on a Thursday night. This is the first time I've had Montaudon's '06, and it definitely shows the suppleness of the vintage - baked apple pie notes with caramel candy and a yeasty character to it. Figs, toffee, and a tinge of sour cherry on the palate. Despite the richness of fruit and texture, the wine retains a bright, mouth-puckering acidity. Exceptional balance and character, drinking well now and should be for years to come.

2002 was a classic vintage year! Very doughy on the nose, toast, apple spice, minerals, fine bubbles, and a dense full body with a super creamy finish! Very rich, and this champagne has aged quite well! Definitely ready to drink now, and a few more years, it could start losing the complexities it contains currently. This is probably one of the best vintage champagne for the price! $44.99!

Love the marzipan on this. Still plenty of acid to go with oysters...

Wonderful yeasty brioche, but after 13 years (this was a 2006, and its 2019) there was a slight hint of sherry suggesting hat this has seen better days.

Entry quality Champagne, too young and poor aromas. I prefer Jacquart Mosaique for this level.

Pinot noir/chardonnay grapes give a great balance of toasty and fresh flavor. Delicate bubbles. Lovely for a birthday toast!

Golden yellow. Not as much fizz left. But very tasty. Clearly aged and different than usual bubbly.

Rich golden hue, nose of mushroom and sous-bois opens to reveal honey and nougat. Palate broadens with decanting to show honeyed Chardonnay fruit and tinned berries with lively acidity still for a now fully mature year.
