I got handed this to open and the comment was that most likely it was gone
It was a gift, who knows how kept
However these are the best surprises
Never had a Grand Echezeaux this good and aged. Only Rene Engel left me a better memory

dark berry patch, nutmeg, earth, exotic mushrooms, surprising hint of tobacco ~ silky & penetrating yet fruit feels sour & bruised

Great comparison of 2 GC, both '93, not a vintage that would be regarded as spectacular, the Mongeard-Mugneret was all showy and expressive when opened, the Mugneret-Gibourg needed a little more time to come around, but at a pinch I think the M-M was the hit.

Some barnyard on the nose but plenty of fruit and tannin remain. Still has a few years to go.
