Absolutely stunning.. Bright, lively acidity. Tastes like whole berry fermentation. I would've failed the guessing game blind... 50/50 cab merlot. What a gem.

5/2021. Nice 50-50 blend Cab - Merlot. Nice on the palate with a nice finish. Paired well with the a nice southern meal (fried chicken breast, collards & mashed potatoes with gravy) at Mr. Friendly’s.

50/50 Super Tuscan Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Aromas and flavors of purple flowers, black cherry, black currant and licorice. Nice hint of tobacco on the finish. Supple tannins. Bright and vibrant!

Spectacular. Let it open 8-24 hours for best complexities.

From Podere Monastero and winemaker Alessandro Cellai, the outstanding winemaker of Castellare. Despite overlooking an area most celebrated for some of the worlds best Sangiovese-based wine, for this limited production wine, Cellai uses a relatively even split of Cabernet and Merlot. Full and aromatic, with dark fruits, earth and coffee, it has a very soft texture with the trademark ultra-fine tannins common from this winemaker's touch. Surprised that the '13 does not have even more grip in the finish, but very enjoyable.

smells like meatballs, balsamic, dried herbs, mint, figs, ripe plum, ripe blackberries... tasting adds in rich black plum and blackberry, wood and balsamic....great interplay between high acid and dark fruit. just wonderful. a real surprise.
