On the nose, syrupy dark cassis, blueberries, black raspberry cola, pepper, spice & fresh violets. The palate is rich, full bodied, smooth, elegant & big....it well extracted! The flavors abound. Dark cassis, blackberries, dark cherries, black plum, black raspberries, blueberries, boysenberries, black licorice, dark chocolate, salted caramel, core of anise, tarry notes, thick medium spice, pepper, soft, leather, powdery slushy tannins, liquid violets, decayed dark florals, underbrush, bitty minerals, crushed rock powder & dark rich loamy soils. The acidity is like a waterfall over the palate. The long, elegant finish is rich, ripe fruits that really pop along with swirling spice-box. This is the kind of wine that make people who know nothing but Carlo Rossi and Sutter Home realize there's much better wine out there, but then, hopefully, you move on to something more elegant and interesting.

Further proof mollydooker's have age ability. Rich red velvet cake with cream and berry icing on the nose. Lots of complicated earth and chocolate and root vegetable notes take over with a fantastic, long, tannic finish. Beautiful.

Oct 15th, 2016Dude - is this wine? I thought I could drink anything but I really couldn't drink this. It was so sweet it was like trying to drink a large glass of port. I've visited the Mollydooker vineyard and was fortunate to meet Sparky and his family. I have bought and enjoyed a bit of their wine in the past - maybe my palate's changed or the wine's just developed into some sort of sweet sticky syrup in the bottle?
