Migration (Duckhorn Vineyards)
Anderson Valley Pinot Noir
Nose has over-ripe plum, black cherry reduction sauce, faint cinnamon stick, wood bark, dark chocolate powder and faint baking spice.
Palate has over-ripe black cherry coated in dark chocolate, (light) moist earthy soil and wet cedar shavings. Light acidity persists!
A great Tuesday night bottle and far, far better than our last bottle about six weeks prior. Bottle variation to our favor tonight. 👍👍

Honestly doing better than I expected, but still uninspiring. First bottle from a 3-pack purchase in January 2009, then hid away in off-site storage since. (It was in a mixed case containing a 2006 Pouilly-Fuisse which is amazing, go figure! 🤷♂️) TBD on veracity of future bottles. Decanted +3H, with notable improvement arc.
Paired to D'Artagnan duck confit over green lentils, carrots, red onion and a quick hit of red wine vinegar. Generally a delightful dish in this house, where portion sizing is highly debated between two humans and four cats...

Dusty, cinnamon, baking spice, red fruit - cranberry, red cherry. Slightly hot and mouth drops of a bit quick

1 person found it helpfulSep 30th, 2013Cherry, black currant, a hint of nutmeg and dill on the nose. Body is fuller than most Pinot Noir, quite juicy and fruity but with a really nice dry finish with smooth tannins. Another great wine from Duckhorn.
