A savory, medium-bodied excursion in rhubarb and red cherry, with a pleasant minerally note that will remind you of Mr. Kuzela’s eighth-grade science class. '13 vintage.

Starts out stewed and grapey, even a bit leathery, and needs to air out for about a half hour before I stop wondering whether it's just over the hill. Fortunately it freshens up considerably and gets back to the zingy wild berry fruit gamay is famous for along with a strong granite/stony character. A very thick wine, almost gummy in texture, but still has youthful luminosity. Cannot say for sure whether it's better now than it was on release 5 years ago, but it's definitely gotten denser and rounder.
