Deep ruby with translucent purple rim. Medium nose of licorice, smoke, blackberry, black cherry, black currant, vanilla with hints of cedar and tobacco. Light medium body of tart acid brings cherry, blackberry and leather. Small jagged tannins lead to a long dry finish of cherry, bramble and black pepper. Young wine with good structure and balance but shifted to the nose. Decant 30 minutes with chicken or lighter meats for fair value at $19.99 USD. Good now but better in two years when tannins mellow.
