A genuinely exciting wine, this entry-level bottling from Stephane Ogier is a brilliant expression of northern Rhône Syrah that ticks many of the varietal boxes. Aromatic and fresh, with dark plum, cherry compote, dark chocolate, espresso and a slight blueberry note that almost contributes to a Barossa character, it feels generous on the palate with moderate tannin and acidity alongside notes of black pepper and black tea. The ABV of 12.5% is also refreshing.

Northern Rhone, 100% Syrah, raspberry, blackberry, black pepper, mild spice. Lovely fruit density and spot-on ripeness, soft ripe tannin. Fruit profile blackened over the evening. Reminds me of Alex Head’s The Contrarian. 22€

Super smooth... beautiful aromas and hints of olives... you know tho is Syrah but the consistency and body reminds you of premier cru Cote de nuits..
