Michel & Stéphane Ogier (d'Ampuis)
Côte-Rôtie Syrah

Distinct bright lifted and slightly shrill viognier. Green notes and underlying black cherry and supple fruit. Good

Deep and soulful. Dark plum, black pepper, blood, graphite. Lovely tart sharpness from the viognier. Quite lean and defined. Very good.

No such thing as bad vintages with great producers, just ones to drink sooner or later.

Light garnet-ruby. Rusty, musty nose. Olive brine, dried blueberry. Long, juicy, bloody palate, with reverberating acidity and prickly tannins. Hints of roasted nuts and cocoa. So alive on the palate. A real treat.

Don’t knock a vintage when the producer is this great.

From a Paris bistro list. Dark ruby and opaque in the glass. Attention grabbing nose. Notes of black cherry, iron and graphite, earth and some menthol. Silky and rich in the mouth. Palate staining. Outperformed my expectations.

A plusher and richer #côterôtie than I have tasted up until now. Could be the 2012 vintage was warmer than others?
