Michael David Winery
Inkblot Lodi Petit Verdot
Big and bold with loads of ripe dark fruits. Fig, vanilla, BBQ smoke, and nice touch of violet and peppery spices. Very lush palate. A bit too sweet to my palate, but have enough acidity to balance it out. Smooth grippy tannins.
I love the Petit Petite bottling from the winery for its playfulness. This is a more serious wine, but just as good. My first 100% Petit Verdot bottle.

This is a monster! Was skeptical due to inability to find a wine I liked from Lodi, but this is legit: squid ink w/dizzying array of aromatics - impressive complexity & density. Yeah, might be over extraction here and trying too hard, but it is just flat out delicious: black/blue fruits, damp soil, black pepper, coffee, leather, etc. Towering chewy tannins dominate the mid palate-teeth staining stuff here and oh so generous. Finish is spot on and there is great balance here, just enough acidity from keeping your mouth glued shut. Pair accordingly. I picked up his Cab Franc as well
