Savage? You might think so. But this is a shadow of Cab Franc; completely overcome by oak. This is probably attractive to some folks.

Lovely vanilla tinged dark berry flavors. Smooth tannins rounded it out.

Michael David Winery 2014 Inkblot Cabernet Franc (SRP $35): Michael David has good name recognition out east. I see their wines in shops, restaurants, wine bars, etc. And many of my friends enjoy their wines. Their Inkblot series, which includes Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Tannat, is known for fleshiness, generosity, and big personality. These are wines you can chew. As substantial as these wines can be -- really pushing the ripeness envelope -- in the glass, they manage to pull off the quite the balancing act. For my friends who prefer a little jam and generosity, Inkblot is your ticket and will not disappoint. Cheers!
