Colli Orientali Del Friuli Chardonnay

Wow!!!!!

I was thinking Corton-Charlemagne all night drinking this concentrated yet airy Friulian interpretation of Burgundies finest white wines. Enzo Pontoni is a master on so many levels and even in this rather warm vintage, his wines capture true complexity and multiple layers of flavour. No rush here.

Just as baffled as every time when stripping down a bottle of Miani; how the heck is this possible…!? ’15 Chardonnay; Big, bold and broad shouldered but with a vibrant and linear freshness to it, with its trade mark electric minerality, both on the nose and the palate. Hitting all the clusters with full power in complete balance thanks to the sharp and vibrant mineral backbone . The 14.5 (!) % abv is barely being noticed, more than acting as a supporting role in the unity by providing even further structure throughout the finish. A powerlifter that is out-dancing the ballerina. Rating is conservative...

Mineral focused but rich and textured. Such a small production and very lucky to have tried this.

Imani's Chardonnays are reminiscent of Meursault. Enzo is a master.

Anise, caramel, butterscotch, acidic, charcoal.

Delicious Chardonnay! Feeling extremely lucky to have obtained a bottle of this!!

Peach..mango...passion fruit...lemon custard...honeycomb..lanolin....great acidity...super balanced...with a finish that keeps on giving!

2014, tough wintage in Friuli. Nice to get a taste of the champ.

Very heavy with 15% vol of alc. There is potential but will wait at least 3-4 years before opening another bottle.
