Cool embossed label. Nothing against paper, but the texture of the print is a nice touch. Plenty dark. And only 12.7% abv. Smells fresh and dense. Cut lumber meets nice all-sorts licorice. Slightest of portobello mushroom or Swiss cheese perhaps. Forest (think thimble or wild black) berry on the palette. Bit of the bitter you get in black strap molasses. Racy acid zing. Chewy and tongue smacking. Also herbaceous. This is unique CA Syrah with a nice complexity and bite to it. Aged well, but could go even a bit longer. This would go with salt cured olives, cheese and salami or a nice bar-b-qued slab of meat very nicely.

Too early for this. I've had good experiences with the Meyer syrah, but I should know better than to drink one this young without a lengthy decant.

A little acidic on the nose but very drinkable. Tastes a little more like a Zin to me than a Syrah.
