Enjoyable cab from oakville. Plenty of fruit on this one, with a good amount of oak on the backend. This wine would probably benefit from a few more years in the bottle.

Deep brooding garnet with and a thin violet rim. It’s easy to complain about California wines being overoaked so it’s only appropriate to give credit when it’s done well. Wonderful dark fruits and oak on the nose along with funky herbs and a hint of smoke. This deftly manages the balancing act of being a big Napa Cab while maintaining comparatively low alcohol. After decanting, there’s very little heat here. Plenty of beautiful dirt and minerality on the palate. The fruit is lively and present but doesn’t try to bring all the attention to itself. This is a really nice Napa throwback.

Exactly what I have been wanting lately. It’s been a while since I’ve had an oaky Cab, especially one in which it’s properly integrated and not overwhelming. Every now and then that’s the expression of Napa Cab I want and this did not disappoint. Vanilla, fig, espresso, and silky dark fruits wrapped in lavender and herbs.

Deep ruby color. Aromas of blackberry, black olive, licorice and cedar. Gorgeous black fruit dry, cedar, black tea finish. Gorgeous wine- opened for 1 day.

Lovely, not too acidic. (Didn’t give me heartburn) but not *quite* as special as we hoped for.

Paired with a dinner of NY Strip, roast potatoes, and broccoletti.

Ever so slight acidity on the nose. Big full jammie blackberries, pomegranate, and a hint of chocolate on the palate. I want this wine to sit open for another 10 minutes though.

Although I could have waited several years before opening this, it’s a pandemic and we were grilling flank steak with Worcestershire butter. This was perfect for those big, bold beef flavors. The fruit, oak, tannin balanced nicely. Sharing it with distanced friends on our patio, over a meal, that was fabulous.

Wouldn’t expect anything less than this perfectly balanced Cab from the Meyer family.

2014 - Old world style, starting with a little musty bouquet; took about an hour to open up; medium body with slight white pepper finish; good to have tried but will not buy again.
