Introducing Meta Wine – a small batch, organic wine producer based in Melbourne. As soon as these guys reached out to me, I loved their brand. Do you know why? Because I am 100% an internet geek, and for me, when I hear ‘meta’ I immediately think of metadata you add to your website for SEO. I love my job, so their ‘metadata’ approach to their branding really appealed to me.

When I received this sample of their ‘Dark Matter’ 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot, I again loved their marketing approach to the front and back labels. Very striking! But as we all know, it’s what’s on the inside that really counts right 😉

The grapes for this red come from the Macedon Ranges in central Victoria. The vineyard is non-irrigated and the grapes are organically grown. It’s very cool how they have laid out all this info on the label. Seriously Meta Wine you have nailed your packaging!

Okay back to the wine. Mr Spittoon and I enjoyed it while watching a bit of Netflix on a Sunday, as you do. Here are my notes:

It’s a juicy blackberry colour in the glass with notes of berries laced with sweet spice rising from the glass. In the mouth it has a nice balance of savouriness and blackcurrants and berries. It has a good oomph of flavour yet a delicate nature which means it slips down the throat seriously easily. A Sunday well spent!

Available via metawine.com.au for $25 and via select stockists in Victoria.

This wine was sent to me as a sample direct from Meta Wine.

All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!
