With all the bad pub about the 2011 California vintage I wanted to try the Merry Edwards that I got on sale. My store of choice originally had it priced at $79.99 and I bought it for $29.99, WHAT! That's right $29.99, lucky me and what a good discovery. On the nose I get black cherry, black raspberry some clove and caramel nuances. On my first taste my eyes lit up and a big smile came to my lips. There is sweet dark fruit of black cherry, raspberry, blueberry, and cranberry. There is a smooth silky mouth feel with medium tanning and lip smacking acidity. The well balanced melding of all aspects in this wine makes for an enjoyable evening.

Truly excellent. Balanced, nicely aged. No dried fruit. Earthy. Beautiful.

Opened this in anticipation of an upcoming Sonoma trip. Wonderful aroma. This wine has aged beautifully. Acidity and fruit are still nicely balanced. I would describe this wine as feminine and elegant. I last tried this about a year ago and it was somewhat shut down. Not sure if the extra year has helped or decanting this time. This wine can probably go a few more years but really no need to wait any longer. Cheers!

This one took a while to open up. Dried fruit with an herb quality to it. A bit of spice on the finish. Not my favorite Merry Edwards, but still well made.

Starts with forward fruit, but after 10 minutes the mushrooms emerge, and after another 10 minutes they merge into a very enjoyable medley of the two. Quality.

Cherries. Black raspberries. Balanced. Hint of spice. Wonderful. Smoothed out even more on day 2.
