Melville
Estate Sta. Rita Hills Syrah
Dried red fruit, violettes, and cocoa powder on the nose. On the palate, tons of spice and white pepper, cocoa powder, Cola, and it finishes with a blueberry and menthol character. All around great wine

Mar 5th, 2017I could have sworn that based on its appearance, that this was a pinot - not a good sign...
Nutmeg, barrel toast, cinnamon and cloves on the nose. Palette is consistent and lithe. Medium tannins and good acidity. Comes across as "hot" on the palette. It's nice, but somewhat simple. I would not have tagged this as a syrah. Maybe I have been recently spoiled, but this is nowhere close to the WA 95 pt rating.

Good juice. Layered. Bone dry. Zero oak. Saint Joseph ringer. Earth. Again zero fruit. Awesome Rhone to the bone
