Really cool and surprising! Nice and dry but with a fruity finish. Awesome with steak frites! Bought at Vernick wine shop in Philly

On paper this PetNat red checks all the right boxes for me: a frizzante red (closet lambrusco lover), a low 12% abv, made from a non mainstream grape (Gamaret) and grown and bottled by a small producer.
But my first impression of taste (the yeast was so strong in my nose that I couldn't get any other impressions there other than 'just fermented grape must')
was of Abali the Iranian fermented yogurt drink.
So although it was interesting I did not find it truly enjoyable.

If Prince made a pet nat, he'd make Red Foam . Deep vibrant purple - funky, soulful. Musty brambly notes with perfumes of volatile acid, tart and lean. Like Lambrusco, deeper funk.

Rad. Very black-fruity...but light enough to not overwhelm.

A tad funky, mild tannins, berries. Balanced effervescence.

Great alternative to a Pinot noir. If you’re looking for a light, but interesting red, this wine is what you want. Funky, without the overwhelming scent and palette of an organic all natural wine. Approachable and enjoyable, a great wine to enjoy before opening up a big one.
Delicate and enjoyable.

Appearance: dark, purple coloured, clear.
Nose: low intensity, youthful, with funk.
Taste: effervescent, off-dry, medium bodied, fresh acidity, low dry tannins with mild notes of funk, cola, and a short finish.
