McGah Family Cellars
Scarlett Cabernet Sauvignon
Dark and brooding, just like yours truly. The most beautiful label on the market. Challenge me on my assertion 😉

As a “once was” Brit, I observed (not celebrated) July 4th. The number of peeps who wished me a happy 4th!!! If only they could make the historical connection, I could be left in peace, on what is a somber day for the vanquished. 🇺🇸🏴
Sermon over - Stunning wine, as is every vintage from Scarlett.

Absolutely stunning. Love at first sip. A decadent monster of a cab. So fruit forward. Tannins already submerged. What’s not to like here...

Feb 1st, 2018Dear McGah family as long as you keep making resplendent wine I will do my best to be a resplendent redhead and wine writer. Oh yah you guessed right I cherish this enchantress even at the beginning although I’m an hour into a decant and boom, but like BOOM the rich ripe tannins are landing on a comfy cushion. Velvet tannins and regal acid stand up to ripping alcohol. Plums, leather, cocoa and cola. Strawberry fruit by the foot. Ripeness, balanced with a green refreshing back drop. As a person I’d aspire to be Scarlett: Rich. Beautiful. And humanitarian (her to your tastebuds and me to the world). Can wine make you a better person? I say yah. Let’s all do as well as this s cab.

1 person found it helpfulAug 10th, 2018Not surprisingly, @Mike Smith goes three for three in the last five days. His Myriad and Quivet 2015s are both extraordinary, thus my high expectations for 2015 Scarlett. Give her two hours to fully unwind. After that, she blasts the palate with an orange peel tinged dark chocolate, and an edge of eucalyptus mint. Decadent concentration, loaded with extracted cassis and plum, and a sensational meaty savoriness.

1 person found it helpfulAug 9th, 20182010 Vintage. Really tight and tannic. TONS of French oak, some cedar dust, masks the dark fruit--blackberry, black currant, black cherry skins. Black olive, savory herbs, parsley, sage. Grippy, firm tannins, vine stems. Needs time and a fat steak.

May 12th, 2015This 2010 was a pretty good Rutherford Cab Sauv. First time I've encountered this producer/wine.
