Deep purplish ruby red. Powerful and rich Cabernet nose, layered with sweet and dark spices, vanilla, dark berries, dark raspberries and some incense. Heavy tannins (7/10) and full bodied. Plush palate with great structure. Lovely and powerful texture with layers of dark berries, sweet spices, graphite, blue and black fruits. Long and lingering finish. Excellent work by Mark Herold. Oh yes thank you wine Gods- really good and damn lucky that I got a few - really good - big bold and beautiful - just the way I like it - it is ready but think it could even get better - big SMIlES tonight!!!!

1 person found it helpfulSep 21st, 2016Very tightly wound. The nose doesn’t give a lot up. Cherries, vanilla and hints of anise. The oak shows up when you drink and balances a slight jamminess. Well balanced but needs to open up a bit.

Mouthfeel on the 2013 is perfect. Deep purple color much darker than typical Pinot Noir; red & black fruit notes can easily be paired with richer dishes. Yummy!

Absolute stunner, perfect example of a fine quality Napa Cabernet. It’s powerful with a nose that carries across the room, dark fruit, vanilla, spice and mushroom. The palate is smooth even though there are muscular tannins lurking around, flavours are balanced and lead to a lingering finish with a little sweetness. This wine throws an extremely fine sediment which is present in the glass and next time I would filter but only for visuals, it has no bearing on taste I feel. So good I almost wish I hadn’t opened it! Now the quest begins to find some more.
