Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

First bottle since Saturday night’s bacchanal in tony West Des Moines (I still have 20+ wines to post)....it may be a combo of a great wine with low etoh and depriving myself for too long but this was just tremendous tonight. Formidable backbone and oozing balance, restraint and ripe red fruit. Floral dried cherry and pound cake.

More Bordeaux than California. Slight tart berry on the finish. .

Tasted blind amongst some great Napa wines and performed very well. Very elegant, pretty red raspberry nose. Elegant and restrained on the palate, but still vibrant and youthful. A wine with lots of soul and personality. Well done Steve!

From the May Cabernet tasting. Floral balanced and Bordeaux like. Juby sweet fruit and unmistakable notes of sandalwood.

Properly ripe and gorgeously restrained. Tastes like the work was done in the vineyard. A refreshing reminder that Napa isn't all Botox.

Big, brambly Berry and Cherry Flavors. Earth and herbal notes, with a touch of tar and wood. Lots going on. Very polished and silky.

Lives up to the hype. If you drink $60 Napa Cabs on the reg, you absolutely have to have the best Oak Knoll has to offer. Beats the Hell out of Trefethen. Looking forward to the white blend, which I purchased at the same time.

Dark, brilliant reflectivity, with a very bright purple rim. Dusty, yet velvety tannins, some tea leaf, blackberry compote, violets, perfume wafts out of the glass. Ability of this is in the classic range. A good decade on its side, could really show well with time. It's a rockstar now, don't get me wrong, just had a lot of potential. Absolutely ridiculous payout for a few Jacksons as of 2016.

Cherries, beautiful acidity. Very food friendly

Excellent old school style Cab...refreshing for Napa Cab. More red fruits and cherries than black fruit. Beautiful wine!
