Refosco grape originally from Friuli Italy. Now in Napa. Big fruit, tannins galore, long dry finish. Needs food!

The 2012 Napa Valley Refosco weighs in at 13.2% ABV, with an attractive, glittery garnet-hued robe. There's no shortage of fruit expression however, the nose emits an array of bramble berries, marionberries, and Italian plums. There is considerable structure on the attack, with firm, grippy tannins, stony minerality and a dash of dried sage on the finish. A lovely effort.
