Matthiasson
Harms Vineyard Chardonnay
Incredibly well balanced Cali Chardonnay...ripe/underripe apple, lemon/lime, slight vanilla, enough malo fir balance, nice amount of lees to keep it rounded, some mineral and the acid profile at medium plus , given that Matthiasson picks early with a crazy alcohol of 12.2%. Really incredible, refreshing, food friendly wine paired with a simple skillet of chopped ham/peas/tomatoes/onions/butter/salt...bravo...

Mar 25th, 2020The nose shows; green apple, pineapple, lime, underripe green melon, lemon, butter, cream, some cut grass & herbs.
Nice full body, soft wood presence, green apple, pineapple, lime, underripe green melon, lemon, butter, cream, some cut grass & herbs. Beautiful round acidy with a nicely polished finished.
Photos of; their Estate vines on a much nicer day than day we visited, Owner/Winemaker, Steve Matthiasson, a picture that gives you a idea of just how tiny Matthiasson winemaking facilities are and their tragic lost of wine in barrel during the 2014 earthquake.

I agree with my last note! Combination of previous bottles. Good stuff!

Sep 2nd, 2023Medium gold color. Might benefit from a quick decant. Was reading my old notes on this bottle and if you merged/averaged them all you get this bottle :). More minerality than previous bottles too.

Apr 23rd, 2023Wow! This was drinking perfectly! Nose of a high end White Burgundy with nice complexity on the palate. Melons, camomile, cream, and subtle citrus hints. Glad I have 2 more bottles!! Very similar to my first bottle.

Jan 9th, 2023Similar to previous note, but really lacked flavor and depth.

Mar 27th, 2022Medium gold color. Vibrant and tart, with high acidity. Filled with citrus fruits, green apple, and lemongrass. More Sauv blanc than Chard in my mind. Just not my style. Medium finish.

Feb 22nd, 2022Lovely! Medium gold color. Well balanced throughout the nose and palate. Nice combination of citrus elements with butter and oak. This will be even better in a year or two. Silky texture as well.
