Massal 1945 Family Vineyards
Clos de Luz Carmenere

Brilliantly Bretty;)
Very well made. Leathery Bret and dark fruit nose. Silky tannins and firm acidity.

Tasty with a bit of juiciness and a little pepper. Had it at home - $15.99 from K&L

Great carmenere blend with just enough peppery notes from Chile

A welcoming nose of ripe black fruits such as cassis and plum, dark chocolate, black tea leafs, and bell pepper. The palate is warm and deep, and velvety, with a taste echoing the nose. Polished tannins and long sweet finish. The bell pepper note might be a turn off for some, but I like it a lot here.
From vines dating back to 1945 that are genetically different (hence massal selection, as opposed to a single clone). Casa Lapostolle used to buy the grapes for the Clos Apalta bottling.
