Les Elotins Côte-Rôtie Syrah

Nose has huge blackberry and granite. Some leather and a hint of brett that gets well integrated with air. Dark flowers and some huge herbals and well. Very complex but still primary. Palate is very 16, juicy, loose, elegant and crunchy with terrific granitic intensity on the finish. Really balanced and pure. Classic.

Delicious, savory style of Cote Rotie. Purple olive, eucalyptus, blackberry.

No formal notes. Delightful.

Nose is peppery, floral, earth and complex. A bit sauvage. Leather, cassis, flowers, hint of barnyard. Will blow off as this is rare if ever an aspect of Billon. Palate is full of fruit and fresh. Lovely acidity and refinement. Needs air as this is a bit out of sorts now but all the components are there. Sweet fruit and velvety sweet tannins and great concentration. Good length. I’ll be back.

This really didn’t get that much better with air. Came together but still a 9.2.

A fav producer for me, the wines smash ever year. Beautifully showing what 2015 in the Côte Rôtie was all about: flesh, density, structure. This has settled in nicely, in prime window for me. Fruit has melted in, complexity developing and still maintains life and tannic intensity. Redolent w/boysenberry and a kiss of blue fruit, high ripeness but balanced alcohol, juniper, hot iron, smoked meat, pulverized granite, coffee

Awesome nose. Black olive, blackberry, blue berrry, amazing clarity here, spice and such purity, superb granite expression. Floral. Just a wacko nose that is singing. Decadent fruit and a mid palate one can get lost in with such superb freshness and awesome granite finish. Superb concentration and structure. Elegant and yet so dense plus ethereal. Really captures what great Côte Rotie is about. Clean. Velvety and sweet tannins. Awesome. Really showing well today.

So so good. A 2015 Côte Rotie one can drink now. Engaging and dazzlingly pure with such freshness and decadent fruit. Oh man what a beauty.

Knockout showing for this wine . Deep and black fruited nose. Floral, tree bark, earth and mineral. Really terrific aromatic complexity. Extremely concentrated and deep palate with excellent freshness and purity. Really seamless palate and the finish is loaded with fruit that is buffered by terrific acidity. Long and so so fresh. Spectacular.

Billon in 11/14 kills it. Considered “off” for many I consider them classic and delicious and most importantly, drinkable. Nose is brooding. Black fruits, granite, flowers and tobacco. Mint and oozing so precise. Terrific aromas. Palate is terrific with lovely high toned acids and wonderful straight as an arrow fruit. Lovely minerality on the finish. Terrific sap and purity. Not as big as 13/10/15 but gorgeous today. Needs an hour decant. No rush. Plush and concentrated.
