Martinelli
"Terra Felice" Syrah
Drinking fantastic! Even a touch better than the ‘12 I had a few months ago. Smoked meat and charcoal with underripe blackberry on the nose. Definitely an herbal/stemmy note on the mid palate with some cedar too. Big without being dense. Thanks @Dan Fitzgerald

Feb 23rd, 2019Semi surprised at the reviews here, but it seems most enjoyed this wine young, and this needs time. At 6yrs, while I enjoyed it, I could see this cruising at this drinking window for at least 5-7yrs more. The aromatics are more savory in style...black pepper/peppercorn dusted blackberry and plum. Chalky and smoky with graphite too. The front and mid palate show more fruit notes of currant and mulberry but the finish turns back to savory with tobacco and bacon. Really nice bottle from @Mark Flesher

Dec 19th, 20182009. Gotta admit, I was worried. I really thought this bottle was gonna lean hot and jammy. Could not have been more wrong. Gamey, meaty, and full of black fruit on the nose, this wine races across the palate with cool confidence and unapologetic acid. Despite the 14.7% abv there is not a hot note to be found. Just a lot of powerful concentration and restraint, almost a bit of elegance. So glad I was wrong about this wine. Great accompaniment to tonight's grilled ribeye.
