Martin Woods
Koosah Vineyard Pinot Noir
Eola - Amity Hills, Willamette Valley, Oregon, USA

Deep, rich ruby in color hinting that this wine is simply not messing around. Didn’t take much of a breathe for the goodness of this particular Martin Woods ‘Koosah Vineyards’ to come gushing out of the glass. Nose-coating, stewed cherries lead to a full-bodied palate that has a remarkable, lingering finish. Each dip into the glass will be subtly different, but there is no doubt at all of this wine’s caliber as well as its consistency. Rock star stuff.

What a nose, some VA, lipstick like intensity, mid season cherry, keynes vignes from 2016. Wow so spicey and earthy. Wow what a generous palate and meatiness and such lift and very sweet fruits. But wonderful minerals on the finish. So much aromatic nuance with alpine scents, herbals. Wonderful finesse, so delicate and lacey, like a Gevrey Cherbaudes/Goulots, wild mint on the nose, sassafras, what a nose, Wow, energy and complexity. So juicy and deep. Such fine tannin structure. Black tea tannins. Nose is so harmonious and so Koosah. After 8 hours all these wines aromas congeal to such a sense of place. Palate is just so supple and sweet with such decadence. Oh wow. my score is up to a 9.7. Such sweetness backed up by structure. And so much energy and depth. Man the freshness, acid and depth is just unreal. Stunning aromatic depth. Asian spices and perfume. Super pure and decadent with great cut and energy. Awesome acidity and sweetness. Still a 9.7 but developed a lot more overnight.

Light ruby in color with light intensity, and a great nose.
Showing red fruits with earth, wood, spices and dark chocolates.
Tangy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This Single Vineyard Oregon Pinot Noir is young and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly.
Nicely balanced with a soft mouthfeel.
Good right out of the bottle and good by itself as a sipping wine.
Aged for 14 months on its lees. Unfined.
13.7% alcohol by volume.
90 points.
$50.

Expressive nose that is super floral, super engaging and super herbal. Terrific aromatic range. Terrific deep. Very alpine nose. Flowers. Mountain air. Juicy and sappy, black cherry and wonderful, ripe and toothsome tannins. Terrific structure and black cherry fruit to burn. Great freshness and acidity. So pure and sapid. Long.

Very nice wine. On the nose a mixture of mostly red fruits, sweet floral aroma; palate with crunchy red fruit, good acidity and length. On the palate there initially was a strong taste of what I best describe as potpourri; almost like a Christmas candle. Initially this was too much for me. I let the bottle sit for 48 hours and revisited, and it was much more integrated. I think a few years of aging might benefit.
