The better steak wine over the 2009 Ormes de Pez but, not the more beautiful, elegant wine.
The 2010 Rioja marries the Wagyu Ribcap while showing its Ranchero characteristics.
The palate shows tumble-weed, tannin fruits that are; brambly, ripe, slightly candied; blackberriesblack raspberries, dry, dark cherries with skin, ruby, black plums, very w/ ripe strawberries. Tumbleweed, straw, dark spice, tough leather, clove, sage, dry clay & top soil, crushed rocks, black pepper, dark, berry cola, mint, oak barrel powder, used charcoal with candied florals that are fresh & withering; dark, red, purple & blue. The acidity is top flight. The long finish is well balanced fruit & earth, persisting nicely falling onto earth & dark spices.

1 person found it helpfulOct 11th, 2015Really well made, I did not enjoy the 11 as much as I loved this one. Ripe cherries wrapped in tobacco and local spices (rosemary, fennel). Great tannins and length. Congrats (a competitor to Roda, my homeground, and a good solid one).

Mar 23rd, 2016Bright ruby red color. The bouquet was very clean, ripe red fruit with a slightly floral/spice aroma. The taste was traditional for a Rioja, as the wine is a blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo, and Graciano. On the palate, the wine was complex with layers of fresh ripe berry flavors, slight spicy/smoky oak with neat silky tannins together with a mineral finish. Well balanced wine at a fantastic price. An exceptional offering and should not be missed. Tasting Sample.
