Deep Ruby color with aromas of fruit and spice. On the palate flavors of black cherry, plum and blackberry with notes of vanilla and pepper spice. Fine tannins, medium finish, good acidity ending with fruit and spice. Drink now. Good value!

Rioja tasting 6/21/23!!

Soft old leather and tangy plum. Sour cherry. Forest floor. Supple and in good shape. Very nice.

Cranraspberry with holiday baking spiced on the nose. Soft crushed youthful red fruit on the palate dance in ascension to higher acidity with a lengthy finish. Tapas afternoon wine. Purchased in Madrid at duty free. Pairs excellently with a variety of green olives.

Fun to say about a nine year old wine, but this Rioja needs to be decanted. It was thin fruit juice with little bite in the finish upon first sip. Once it aired out, though, the wine came alive. Dark cherry, stewed strawberry, cranberry, pomegranate, raspberry jam, black tea, American oak, cinnamon, clove, and a hint of black and white pepper on the palate. Medium plus tannins, medium alcohol, and high acid. Smooth and powerful from start to finish. An example of how masculine a Rioja can present without the need to amp it up with alcohol.

Strong flavour of fruits and berries with mild aroma of oak. Excellent wine to drink on the sunny summer day with some white meat.

Found this over the weekend mixed in with some bottles I had - it needs to breathe but I am not mad at the 2000 and the way it has aged - I need to forget about bottles more often !! Easy drinking
