Markus Molitor
Ürziger Würzgarten Kabinett Mosel Riesling
Mosel, Germany

Vintage 2016 | Honey. Minerals. A nice tension between sweet and acids. Discussion among tasters, should a kabinett age or do we want to enjoy it young. I tend to the opinion of @Berry Marinussen: put it the first ten years away 😉

We had this on 4/17-18/19. Light straw color. Peachy, sweet bouquet. Lemon citrus sweetness on the palate. Has a certain taste that has to be acquired. As we are going to Germany, we had to try a Reisling.

Wonderful acid, lemon, citrus; but wow, super surprising strong shellfish notes… mussels. Very atypical Mosel profile. I don’t hate it, but some people will.

A kiss of honey sweetness was just about right to counter balance the sharp acidity. Nice mix of stone and citrus fruits with pronounced minerality. No trace of petrol, which I like very much. The medium body was quite elegant. Juicy and lightly spiced finish.
