Vintage 2017 | smell with flint. Cacao. Smell like a fanning peacock tail, which I like a lot 😏 good acidity. Great balance. Long aftertaste.

Clear and very fresh nose with red cherry and loads of swimming pool. Which develops into a Smokey spice with superb minerality and just tons of layering. Airy and so gorgeous. Palate is bright, fresh and lively with lovey freshness and terrific slatey minerality. This is a very mineral driven Pinot Noir and I love it for that reason. Really really red. Really bright with terrific lift a but more rustic here than the ** Bockstein but also less expensive. Really long and so well made. Also needs to open.

If you've had good Pinot from Burgundy or California, this is undrinkable. It's a good example of why the Pinot should not be planted in slate.

🏅 Rating: 88+/100 (3,85🌟)
Revisit of this wine since the last time I had it 15 months ago. Clear pale ruby red. Cedar, forest red berries, sweet cherry. Fruits are ripe. Still watery on the palate, lacks concentration. Tannins calmed down, firm, velvety. Wine is ready to drink now. Proper cellaring improved the wine significantly. Oak is well integrated now, good acidity, more balance and ripeness.
Very good atempt, but palate is a weak point.

One of the best producers in the Mosel area for sure. This is to young to drink now but I tasted this at the winery. They served me the wine at 10°. The lady said: sorry that he is so cold. Wait a few minutes. But that development was so interesting! I thanked her for serving it this way! ☺️

Magnum

I think some might have issue with German Pinot noir but they are great. Distinct. This was super pungent on the nose but if you give it time it blows off and becomes a lovely creature with delicate but smokey notes, persistent acidity and sweet fruit. I haven't had a lot of German Pinot noir but they usually lean to the lighter side and this one leaves a belly warming pleasing feeling that shows it's not a weak creature.
