Napa Valley Merlot

Here is my Thursday's Merlot fix.

Dark ruby in color with a purplish rim.

Fruity nose of blackberries, blueberries, cherries, licorice, cedar, vanilla, tobacco, cloves, spices, chocolates, smoke, mocha, earth, peppercorn and leather.

Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, plums, cherries, currants, cedar, leather, licorice, vegetables, pencil lead, vanilla, chocolates, tobacco, mocha, coke and earth.

Medium plus in finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cranberries.

This Napa Merlot is always enjoyable. Well balanced with nice complexity and a great mouthfeel. Drinking very nicely now and will continue in the next 5 to 7 years.

Needs an hour to open up properly, but good right out of the bottle too.

Great with steak. Light but with a strong finish.

Very pleasing, fruit and mild tannins.

Tuesday substitute....

Very pleasant 2015 Markham Napa Merlot. Cherries and blue berries bouquet. A hint of tannins. Crowd pleaser.

Great cab lovers merlot. Big, sexy, delicious.
