The 13’ was the only vintage of this bottling on the wine list of a reputable steakhouse. Reasonably priced, I ordered one. The server showed me the bottle and I nodded. Small pour for taste, not bad. A glass after half an hour decant, and I was thinking to myself this is no way a 13’ vintage: lack of concentration and finesse. That’s when I checked the bottle and realized it’s a 17’ vintage.
What would you do under this circumstance?

High acidity. Needs decanting. Light body. Peppers, noticrable tannins, plums. Note to self - avoid this barolo needs more time.
