Excellent 2006 Vin Santo style; really fresh and less sherry/oxidised of the genre of Tuscan desserts #malvasia #trebbiano #DOC #castellodipomino #barrelaged5yrs #tuscany #rufina

Tasted like a sherry but only 14.5% alcohol. Made from the Passito method of drying grapes in this case Malvasia and Trebbiano. Almond notes with some varnish. Some time in old oak.

The sugar is not cloying. There's dried apricot and a little almond in there too.

Lovely bright sprightly dessert wine. Apple-y? But with lots of complexity beyond sweetness. Maybe orange, figs, almonds. A touch of sherry character. Not quite like anything else. $50 retail.
