An absolutely gorgeous, mid-weight Hermitage. Producer over vintage for sure. Huckleberry compote, ripe black cherry, plum, Creme de Violette, BBQ pork, leather, sweet wood, asian spices, garrigue, dried flowers and potpourri. Silky, elegant, sexy all at once.

May 28th, 2021Memories of having this at Mangevins in Tain L’Hermitage back in 2018. Bold then, this has shed a couple pounds, still an infant in many ways, the progression of tannin and integration of its plush fruits show the progression. Amazingly graceful and vivid, its power is caressing suggesting a Burgundian touch. Ripe and liquor of black raspberry and some currant, Chambord-esque, peach pit, talcum, distilled violet, an array of smokey tones; smoke beef brisket, smoldering charcoal, toasted pink and black peppercorns, star anise, hot pebbles, iron, truffle. Smart use of whole cluster here, it’s lift and complexity bring volumes to the wine. Superb!

Apr 4th, 2020Woke up after a few minutes in the glass. Pretty color with some rim variation. Incredible complexity and intensity on the nose. Ripe red fruit, flowers, meat, and herbs all blended together with very few distinct notes. Structure has melted away leaving a silky texture but a shorter finish. Drink now!! #marcsorrel #hermitage #ctbucklinwine
