Manni Nössing
Eisacktaler Kerner
Medium bodied with a fruity nose of stone fruit but the palate is quite dry and chalk full of minerality. Found at La Dispensa bottle shop in Trento. Drinking Sudtirol in Sudtirol. 👌🏽

May 22nd, 2019Ive never had a Kerner before so I have no point of reference but this wine was striking. My initial impression was hard to describe at first, there is a sharpness to the nose that is reminiscent of smelling CO2 off of a rapid fermentation. It reminded me almost of the sensation of smelling ammonia. Once that fades I'm left with a raspberry smell. As the wine warms it goes into white peaches and kiwi fruit. The acidity is on par with perhaps lower end Riesling but the outright dryness is reminiscent of quality Sancerre. It left me really happy. I don't know why this wine seems such a bastard but I quite like it.
