Bright garnet color with a ruby core. Aromas of tart red berry fruit, fresh herbs and funky roasted vegetables. Red fruit (cranberry, cherry, raspberry and pomegranate) on the palate with additional flavors of black tea, black pepper and those roasted vegetables. Note of wet stones and minerals on the very oaky finish. Chewy tannins and high acidity which actually balance themselves pretty well. Interesting. Huge tannins! Big, a little mean. It’s hard to rate this one fairly without a big rich red meat meal. Plum, cedar, blackberry, but not much fruit. Plenty of acid and tannin. Not for the faint of heart.
