l'Ermite Ermitage Syrah

Still showing great energy and power after 17 years. Still some new oak with ample fruit.

Blueberry, cherry, sage, flowers, roasted meat.

More opulent in fruit weight than I was expecting. Looking very good.

Magnum 1998 Chapoutier L’Ermite Ermitage. Opened and drank immediately. Beautiful nose and front end, but the finish of the wine has started to diminish. Not an abrupt finish, but not any real length to it. Very light. Good lunch wine, we decided.

More like a great burgundy than a Rhône
