Luigi Righetti
Campolieti Valpolicella Ripasso Corvina Blend
Very earthy on the nose but surprisingly light, plummy and smooth.

Jun 25th, 2019March Madness and Ripasso and rich pasta (not pictured). Great combo. The 2013 iteration of this wine is once again a great value. Richly fruity, with some of those Amarone pruny notes (in a good way), and some gravelly notes in the background. Rich but dry, and with pretty good acidity. Nice balance. Maybe one of the best versions of this I’ve had.

Mar 16th, 2018This is one of my go-to weeknight Italian pasta wines. The 2012 has a bright, zingy nose of ripe but tart berries and a warm moist earthy quality. Loads of zesty ripe cherry-berry fruit followed by a clingy roasted herb mineral thing. Mouth filling but medium bodied. Fantastic acidity keeps it fresh.

Sep 23rd, 20152011 Vintage. This is a real mass market ripasso - not particularly rich or long on the palate but certainly no faults. I had it at a restaurant where it was $40 on the wine list and considerably better than equally priced lackluster Chianti. Clear medium minus garnet (rather pale for the genre). Clean, Nice tar and leather notes and done nice wild tammy character. Medium acidity, medium tannins with leather and cherry on the palate. Not complex but very enjoyable

May 17th, 2015Surprisingly good. Found at Harbor Market. Just enough, but not too much tannins. Very drinkable. Haul out the olive oil and Italian rustca bread and enjoy yourself.

Sep 7th, 2023Enjoyed this wine. Very complex. Lots of raspberry, vanilla, and chocolate. Other folks also tasted/smelled licorice but I hate anise so there wasn’t enough for me to be offended. Had with amatriciana. Would love to have again.
