Crystalline in its bright acidity and minerality this no-dosage wine frames wonderfully ripe fruit with hints of wild raspberry, lemon, green apple, golden apple, flint, wet stone, hay, and acacia. The mousse is well-developed and creamy; It tastes so fresh and youthful it only betrays its age with a few tertiary notes of brioch, beeswax and a subtle note of hazelnut. Elegant, vibrant and beautiful with grilled shrimp and on its own.

This month we celebrated 12 years since I started Travelling Corkscrew! How time flies when you’re drinking wine right 🙃

So we thought this 2012 Louis Roederer Brut Nature done in collaboration with artist Philippe Starck would be the perfect bottle to open and it didn’t disappoint 😋

It’s made of 55% Pinot Noir, 25% Pinot Meunier, 20% Chardonnay. 25% of the wine is vinified in oaks casks. No malolactic fermentation and no dosage.

In the glass it’s a pale golden hue with aromas or toasty hazelnuts, juicy peach and citrus peel. Super fresh and enticing, definitely not showing its age. In the mouth it’s super smooth and refreshing with brilliant acidity. Think crisp Granny Smith apple, citrus zest and a sprinkling of spice. Yum!

All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!

Bright, fresh, apples & citrus, with a sudden honey and walnuts depth — possibly a little too low-dosage for me
