Special Selection California Cabernet Sauvignon

Bit over the hill.

Good nose but initially slightly too much sour cherry on the palate. Earth and old cedar come out and the wine rallies into a lovely aged beauty. Drink up though.

Drinkable if you are a masochist, but well past prime.

Drinking nicely. Don't hold.

A little piece of California wine history. Such a treat to try this. It's held up well.

We got lucky tonight and this bottle of 51 is in great shape. Fine old claret, subtle sweet earthy notes, fine tannins and length.

Smells heavy of strawberries. Very clean, soft texture. Light/medium body. Almost a little vegetal/earth flavors. Not in a tobacco or dusty way. Tad smokey.

1978 Louis M. Martini Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon Napa. Really nice birth year wine. An example of the importance if good cellaring.

Very fresh and pristine bottle. Fruit still very present and sweet and delicious.

A touch of dust but still gangbusters on the fruit. Coke-y sweetness and a cool time machine of a wine
