Beaujolais-Villages Gamay
Happy Beaujolais Nouveau Day ! Unfortunately that's not for me, so I will go with the next best thing. This is a nice and simple Beaujolais Villages.
Showing black and red fruits with earth, wood, spices, peppercorn, green herbs and vegetables.
Medium bodied with medium acidity.
Spicy finish with fine tannins.
Drinkable and good with food or by itself. A nice party wine.
100% Gamay grapes.
13% alcohol by volume.
85 points.

Earthy spice notes on the nose, mild spice and dry cherries on the palate with not overpowering but appreciable tannins. Dry and light to medium bodied with a mild finish. Would do better with food like a meat pie perhaps with enough crusty pastry.

Brilliant garnet color with a touch of purple around the edges. Bright fruity nose. Starts out quite tart but in a refreshing way, not unpleasantly sour. You get used to the acidity and enjoy a nice sour cherry/red fruit flavor that finishes with a very slightly sweet spice. Fairly light bodied and low to medium tannins. This would be nice on a hot day. Might be too tart for some but overall a quite enjoyable wine for a fair price.

Jan 29th, 2019Characteristically #beaujolaisvillages with a light, fruity character yet balanced with some nice acidity and a dash of spice plus some texture from light tannins. I'm still looking for better examples for a very reasonable price.
