This is a delicious Bordeaux blend from Columbia Valley in Washington State.

Very dark in color, and looks very young.

Full-bodied, smooth and bold, with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry and fruity on the palate with nice complexity.

Showing blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, raisins, dried figs, vanilla, cedar, licorice, cola, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, spices, earth and coffee.

Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.

This 8 year old is peaking now, and will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 years.

Smooth and elegant. Rich and extracted, with a great mouth feel.

Good by itself or with food. A great wine to sip on and talk about.

Robert Parker 94 points.

Needs 3 hours to open up properly, but good right out of the bottle as well.

I paired it with a Charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

A blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Petit Verdot, 17% Merlot, 7% Cab Franc and a splash of Malbec. Winemaker is Philippe Melka.

15.4% alcohol by volume.

93 points.

$65 (current vintage).

2011 is STILL young.... I would say hold it another year or two if you can. Tight floral notes of cherry, fig, and something herbaceous, maybe sage. On the palette the tannins are still concentrated mid-palette. Black cherry, baking spices and toasty oak notes are most prevalent. Yum!

A really funky nose that left you wondering what was in the bottle. And then, like a mist that lifts from the river - the tastes and nose showed up. A Phillipe Melka version of Washington’s best grapes. Power Bordeaux blend with Syrah added in. Soft tannins and subtle fruit kept flowing in and out. Wonderful comparison to an 06 Oakville Cab.

The 2016 ‘Piroette’ Red Wine is a stunning new release by superstar winemaker Phillipe Melka. A blend of primarily Cabernet Sauvignon (68%) with smaller portions Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec, the wine was aged for 22 months in 75% new French oak prior to bottling. Showing off its inky core this opens with a bouquet of green bell pepper, mocha, tar and anise that all come together in the glass. The silky texture creates gorgeous appeal, delivering blackberry cobbler, espresso bean and shades of blueberry pie with lovely herbal undertones. Highly structured, with soft tannins, this stunning effort will cellar well for decades. Drink 2020-2038- 95

Like budder. Been waiting for a holiday moment. Spice, black currants and cranberry nose. Brown sugar, molasses, blackberry, boysenberry.

A wonderful tasting put on by Classic Wine Storage featuring Long Shadows Winery. If you aren’t familiar with these wines, they are phenomenal WA state wines that are made by the likes of Randy Dunn, Phillipe Melka, Michel Rolland, John DuVall, and more.

This is made by Melka and is Cab dominant with merlot, petit Verdot and Malbec to round it out. Possibly nose of the night! Smells of sweet, rich Cabernet without being jammy. This is all finesse. Red and black fruit pie, and cocoa. Great texture.
