Dark tawny scarlet. Almost opaque. Bright and lively in the glass. Notes of rhubarb, cherries, sandalwood and some spice. Fruit forward in the mouth. Sappy. Fruit is very ripe and overpowers the finish. Perhaps this will balance out with more age.

Not huge, but very dense and layered. Seductive notes of cerise, and silky textured. This has the potential to be very powerfully expressive; for now it is a hesitant beauty.

Very solid producer making wines that are balanced and represent the vineyard sites. Clearly California in its fruit forward approach, but that's a good thing when the balance is there as well. I like all their limits but the Cerise was singing this night.

Thanksgiving day dinner at Luce. Next to the last bottle of the 09. Some bell pepper, smoke, barrel, dried fruits. Bacon, strawberries, rhubarb.
We are both enjoying this lovely wine.
