Line Shack Winery
Reserve San Antonio Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
At first drink, needs more time to open up.. Given 30 minutes but needs more. Blueberry compote and vanilla on the nose, smells hot though. On the palate it was a bit medicinal. Half hour later, the nose has softened substantially with brambly fruit, a touch of spice, sweet cherry, and black licorice - not unlike a Spanish garnacha actually. Mouth filling sweet fruit and mouth coating tannins. Dried plums, blackberries, and mincemeat interestingly enough. Quite nice once it settled down, but I think the alcohol is a bit overdone still unfortunately. Day 2 has a lush sweetness, but still underwhelming for the price.

Apr 9th, 2015Very pleasant surprise. 2012 vintage. I've never heard of this winery. When I saw 15.5% alc I wasn't expecting much. Deep purple color with hints of fruit on the nose. Jammy fruit on the palate with no alcohol burn.
